Happy February! The first month of 2013 just flew by in a blur- we had some amazing news (we won a Wedding Wire Bride’s Choice Award and were voted a finalist in the Capital Style Bridal Readers Choice awards!* Second year in a row for both!), one big wedding show, awesome new client inquires + some branding projects we’re super excited about… January was pretty good to us! It was around the first week that we started thinking 2013 was really going to be our year- and it hasn’t lost its shine yet :)

Onto the real star of the show- our pick this week comes from Laura Worthington:

So fun and charming- and just love this from Laura on the inspiration for Funkydori: “I am a child of the Seventies. I grew up rocking the rainbow striped bellbottoms, decorating my room with posters of Unicorns and watching ‘The Electric Company’. Funkydori is my nod to the groovy and far out days of this decade.” Even these eighties babies can get behind that.

With Thanksgiving less than a week away and holiday cards going up in the shop shortly, we couldn’t resist this adorable font for the season:

We love the hand-drawn charm of these icons, so cute! Christmas Doodles Too also has a big brother, Christmas Doodles. We want them both!

In case you missed it yesterday: Creative Market launched! We’ve been looking forward to the day they opened the doors to this “handcrafted, mousemade design” marketplace for what seems like FOREVER- it’s such a brilliant idea! Not only is it full of awesome resources (downloadable templates, icon sets, brushes + more), but we love the focus on the “handcrafted” aspect of digital downloads, and their amazing focus on creatives.

All that being said, there’s already an awesome font selection ranging in price from $2 to $15. Naturally, we couldn’t resist picking one of our favorites for this week’s Font Friday:

First, we want to send a big huge blog congratulations to Elizabeth’s sister/Jenna’s cousin Maria and her fiancé Nick who got engaged last week! We’re so excited about this fantastic news we can hardly stand it- we can’t WAIT to see two of our favorite people tie the knot!

It’s a good day when you discover that one of your favorite type foundries has teamed up with Google Web Fonts to help make the web more beautiful. Our type crush, Latinotype, offers 9 fonts through GWF- adding some gorgeous letters to the “hundreds of free, open-source fonts optimized for the web.” Our favorite? Sail:

How pretty is this one? We love that the script stays legible but still has those lovely Latinotype curves. Sail is availiable through Google Web Fonts or at Font Squirrel.

We’re loving the Art Nouveau-ish look of Chancellor:

It’s always nice to add readable, fun display faces to our collection- we love our scripts, but sometimes you need something that’s a bit more legible and still has character. Chancellor certainly fits that bill! And at only $29, it’s a pretty good deal too.

Funny how we stumbled on this week’s Font Friday pick- when we discovered last week’s awesome Wed Dings, we fell in LOVE with a typeface that was used in one of the samples. After a little investigation (seriously, if you haven’t heard of What The Font, bookmark it! So awesome. And the forum? Even more awesome), we had a name:

Well hello, Ragazza Script. This, from the description, pretty much sums it up: “it gives a feel very close to ornamental Copperplate mixed with some kind of modern ‘high-contrast’ typeface.” Another great one from the amazing Latinotype- love love love.

We’re revisiting our Font Friday post from last year- the same thing is true this year at the 10TH ANNUAL (wow!) DeCesaris/Prout Golf Tournament, we’re still running around the golf club for this amazing cause!

This year the tournament happens to fall on Elizabeth’s birthday- happy happy birthday to the best business partner, friend and cousin I could ever ask for! I may or may not be starting to cry writing this, I am so blessed to spend everyday with you!!!

Happy #fontfriday friends! We’re running around the golf club serving up cold drinks at the 9th Annual DeCesaris/Prout Golf Tournament- we are so proud of JoAnn and Beth and the amazing work they do. So proud, we wanted to give them a little font shout out:

The DPCF’s logo is set in Bodoni, a great classic typeface that was first designed in the 18th century. For a little fun (free!) bonus, how cool is this sketchy display serif, Grutch Shaded? Looks like Bodoni’s hip little cousin! Thanks Chelsey for the intro- this is why we love Font Friday :)
